Coach's Plan to Manage the Environment
I will have a parent meeting during our first week of camp to inform parents on our plans for the upcoming season. I will send an email outlining the the talking points so it is easily assessible for parents to refer to during the season. I will send reminders and we will talk about these thing throughout the season.
I will give all of my contact information, make sure I have each parents information and be sure they have access to our communications apps. These apps will keep parents informed about all team activities.
We will discuss my plan for managing their childs safety at practice and during the games modeled after the Safesport action plan. Monitoring physical health and recovery. Having a positive atmosphere that allows players the frredom to try and make mistakes. Being inclusive, making everyone feel part of the team and being valued. Creating an environment that gives them the security and freedom to grow.
I will discuss the US Soccer Grassroots player development philosophy. That is player centered which means it will be reality based (the game), holistic (physical, emotional, health), experiential (player experience) and autonomy support (player decision making, reading the game). Fostering a positive, inclusive, safe, fun environment to develop.
We will use the Play-Practice-Play model for practice. We will develop the 4 phases of the game (Attacking, Defending, Transition from attack to defense, Transition from defense to attacking). Making it fun, while having opportunities to develop their skill through game play. With specific topics that they will have the freedom to come up with their solutions.
Parents will help create a positive environment by supporting their player and the team, encouraging them, allowing them to make decisions and learn from the game. By being aware of team activities and details. Providing team support when needed with tents, benches, drinks, food etc.
I will address parents engagement, they will receive weekly reminders of team activities, practice topics, a pre game note discussing the topics we worked on at practice and to look for them in the game. A post game summary to how many of our goals were met, what things we did well and a few things we will continue to work on. A monthly player check in to give updates on player development and address any conserns
I will inform parents that our season plan may have a few times where it needs to be slightly adjusted. I thank you all in advance for your patience, flexibility and understanding. I am always willing to talk, you may contact me about any player development conserns you may have. If you have any conserns following a game I ask that you wait 24 hours before contacting me with those issues.
